Proven right

“I always told you

that you’d stop loving me before I’d even start thinking about leaving you

My feelings for you were deeper than you ever imagined, deeper than anything I’d ever felt

I always told you

that one day you’d leave & you’d fall for someone else

And I’d be left on the sideline watching somebody other than I make you happy

I always told you

that you’d hurt me again, leaving my soul to grow dark and tormented

Having to live day by day, fake smiling

Anything to numb the excruciating pain

I always told you

I’d never make it out emotionally

Leaving me a second time would destroy me mentally

I always told you

That one day you’d prove me right

But, what I failed to tell you was that

I secretly hoped you’d prove me wrong.”
